Read this Book
By Angela Bolds
This book was extremely relevant to the issues and concerns that we share as middle school teachers in an age where all that we knew as teenagers has changed. Family structures, students concerns, technology, community involvement, political and business influence on education have all changed and shaped our culture into what it has become. Students enter the classroom with pressures, issues, and concerns that are a direct reflection on the changes our society has experienced. How do we best deal with students with behavior and academic concerns? Read this book to help you formulate plans to create an effective middle school culture!

Both useful and thoughtful
By NC
Just an exceptional book. Different from most "teacher books," this one is told as a series of narratives of a high-functioning educational team working with specific students. At its best, it feels like great conversations with colleagues about how to approach a challenging student. Lots of practical wisdom from the narrative is condensed into helpful lists at the beginning and end of chapters, making this one of those rare books that is both provocative to read and helpful to reference.
